Vintage sampling mode in Kontakt 5
Is it any good? Just gimmicky? And more importantly can you find it in Kontakt player? I haven't found it so far.

For some sounds it's great, others not do much. Does it sound like a vintage sampler, I don't care to compare. I think of it as another VST.

But where is this mode? Or is it Kontakt 5 only (ie not Kontakt player 5)?

you can switch the mode in every instrument, the same place where
you can choose time machine / beat machine etc..
sp1200 mode can be good for drums imo. not sure if it sounds like the real deal, but it is useful function!
