Question Protools setup that won't break the bank?

Hi.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I tried searching and came up empty.

Anyway, I've been trying to look at digidesigns web-page to figure out what my options are, but have a hard time figuring out which protools system would support the following:

- 16 channels of I/O, upgradeable to 24 I/O in the future (ADAT etc is fine, will have to get new converters anyway)
- Not HD based system, because of price
- 48 tracks minimum

I've tried looking at the various m-powered solutions as well as the digidesign factory etc, but cannot find any place listing total allowed simultanous (full duplex) I/O.

I'm sure some of you using protools would know this.

Suggestions, anyone?

Mix Systems with an ADAT 16 Channel I/O can be had for under 2K on eBay

FYI, an LE system based on the 002 or 002R gives you:

4 mic/line inputs using 002Rs converters and pres
4 line inputs using the 002Rs converters
2 SPDIF or AES inputs
8 ADAT inputs

8 line outputs using the 002Rs converters
8 ADAT outputs
2 SPDIF or AES outputs

LE allows 32 tracks max, but there is an add-on to it to allow 48 tracks.

M-powered has a similar feature set to LE, but you would have to examine M-Audio's site to see what your I/O options are. A brief perusal of their site doesn't yield any interfaces that are compatible and superior to the 002R.

If you're going to ask this question, at least post your budget in dollar figures.

Otherwise, buy a Pro Tools HD3 Accel rig with a 192 + the 16 in and 16 out card at full pop (assuming Bill Gates' budget)

With all due respect...
If your going to provide an answer to my question, please read my post. I say that I am interested in any options that are NOT HD systems, because of price. That should give you a fairly good idea of upper budget limit, I think... And probably also what options are available...

Ok, so there is basically no limit in the software itself on simultaneous I/O? It only depends on what the hardware supports?

Thanks again.

So you want advice but you won't give information relevant to getting good advice.

You're just an Internet Vampire looking for attention. ******.

I am the one looking for attention? Reeeeeaaaally? Ah, the irony...

Well, I just asked another question, and you couldn't or wouldn't answer that either, so please do not respond to this thread again. And notice that I am not putting any strong adjectives in here just to smear you, no matter how tempting it would be, but actually nicely ask you to not respond since I am not looking for the same as you, but advice.

Thank you.

Because it still works and sounds good enough for its price. Do you remember that hundreds of No #1 songs were recorded on these.
Throw a good clock on there and for a budget system, you're in the big leagues
