The T-Racks Classic bundle are based on the Calrec UA-8000 console. Great classic sound and when you consider the included CSR bundle of 4 reverbs it's a great choice for a low price. It's the Musicians Friend stupid deal of the day so the sale is today only.

I am using CSR all the time and don't overlook the yellow Soft Clipper from that bundle!

Obi, does that bundle include the Singles plugins?

Yes, you will be able to use each of the 4 classic models as T-Racks singles in your DAW of choice.

I've had loads of authorization problems with my CSR reverbs, I gave up and haven't used them in 3 years. Very nice sound but not worth the hassle.

...now they have the Authorization Manager, which should make it easier. But it worked without it, too. And even if it would be hassle (not for me, though), it might be worth it, because there's no iLok/dongle/whatnot.

i don't normally do this, but honestly, of all the software companies i've dealt with over the years i'd have to say IK's tech support is among the best. (i'm not affiliated with IK in any way for anyone wondering... just a user.)

to the IK guy chiming in on the thread: there used to be a guy called jason that manned the support desk, if he's still there give him a tip of your hat for me

Thanks for the kind words!

I'd pass the word along myself, but I know Jason is an avid GSer so I'm sure he'll see this if he hasn't yet!

I love everything I have from IK Multimedia (TRacks3, CSR, Sonic Synth 2, Amplitube 3 and AmpegSVX) , check also the additional Compressors (Black & White), they're great!

I own TRacks 3 Deluxe and I also have Slates FG-X. I get better out-of-the-box mastering results (using presets and slightly tune them to my needs) with the FG-X. The latter seems to be more subtle and surgical, especially with transients, while most of the TRacks3 mastering presets are right-in-your face loudness war weapons - off course that's only presets - they can be configured and tuned to your needs.

But: With TRacks 3 you get a whole suite of very nice plugins (EQs, Compressors, Limiters and Clipper) that can also be used on single mixbusses in your mixing session, while FG-X is a pure mastering tool. So if you need some decent mixing plugins, you might be better off with TRacks. On the other hand - if you already own several dynamic processing plugins, you should demo both (FG-X AND TRacks 3 provide demo versions) and chose which suits you best. (however the FG-X demo will only work with an iLok2 device).

I thought only the EQ(!) was based on the Calrec console, not also the compressor, clipper and limiter.

I also have and use T-Racks, but not for mastering except for maybe the Brickwall Limiter.

They are all based on Calrec sound qualities as Calrec didn't make all 4. But they all have similar sounding characteristics.

Errr.... right. That's (your) "usual" marketing I guess?

Because certain IKM individuals told be different back in the day. And even TR3 has no massive audio enhancement with the Classic Plugins compared to the initial release with T-Racks v1. Though it was updated nonetheless.

Whatever.

The developers who created T-Racks still work at IK (Actually our CTO) and there have been numerous audio enhancements as raw processing power has grown. Not to mention other features we have included. You're more than welcome to download the free demo and shoot them out against any other effects out there. They definitely have their own flavor and are still used by mix and mastering engineers.

I really like the Yellow T-racks CLIPPER plugin. I generally use that and set it to bring my audio up to 0dbfs with hardly any clipping/gain reduction happening (occasionally a 1/2 db GR here and there sometimes, then i have it right where i want it).

Once i get it up to that level, ill use Slate Digital FG-X after, to really make it loud from there on out........

To the op :

T-racks is excellent , stable , good sounding and not heavy on the cpu + Standalone operation !!

Be sure to go with the extra plugins (deluxe) , the Opto comp is one of the best comp you will find , the Fairchild is a must (will make a video on it soon and the spatialisation ability of it !!) and the metering section a big plus ....

Bought it, sounds good. I'm using Multi band compressor on drum bus, Compressor on Vocals bus, but what I like most is the metering plug. Great "what's going on " plug on master mixbus.

Mixdown use only as I don't master mastering. yet.

The metering plugin isn't part of the Standard pack, AFAIK.

But why the hell did IK make that spectrum analyzer so small????

How did the IK tech support person (ObiK) come to be banned from GS? Seems odd...

I remember him as someone very comitted to the products his company sells - maybe he's overdone it a bit and that was percieved as inappropriate sales promotion by one of the mods?
