Pls Help:)

Hi, my name is Kamil. Iam newbe on this forum. Usually i talk in my lenguage. so sorry for english.

OK from the top.
I have 3.2 Ghz Pentium IV(one core). + 2GB(dual channal)DDR400Mhz + Rme Multiface. I use a lot of staff vst and plugins.
And how you know. Is not comfortable.
I try make sepparte master and mix, but even that is too many times out of procesor.

I never use mac.
But let's say that i have money for the New Mackbook pro 17 with 2 GB memory. - it's about 3300 $.

So my question is:
1)do i have big diffrent beetween this Mackbook pro 17 (2gb) and this what
i have now....?
2)Is big difrent beetween new g5 (quad) and mackbook pro17 ? both with 2GB.

---------------------
I know that is not easy say this. Becouse is depeand of the software. In my Pc i work on cubase sx3. Also i wirte the scores in sibelius.
How i wrote before i use vst(battery, native instrumnet, art vista ) plugins. r1, psp, etc.

Pls try to give me some advice...
Couse i don't wanna speend a lot of money to after say ... in my area is too dificult to find mackbookpro and just test. even if you find this is problem with soft. etc etc.

Aha and one more if i have mackbook pro or g5quad is possible to instal windows xp , but this work the same like on pc?...
.P.s.
on the other hands what a sens to instal winxp. couse power is also on the soft of apple...
Cyou...

never ever buy 'first' generation stuff like that unless you really really have to.
Especially if you have to 'hurt' yourself financially to do it.

I know ... sounds like a myth ... like never buy the first series of a new car that just rolls out of the factory.

The 17 inch is too new. Wait a couple of months and keep your eyes on some mac user forums. If say by september or so you haven't found a single post with serious issues then go for it.

Hi

Here is the "fivetowers" benchmark results page for Cubase SX3...

http://www.informationarchitecture.i...er=performance

As you can see, a dual-core PC is roughly as fast as the quad-core G5s when using SX3.

The cheaper option would be to get a dual-core Pentium D9xx chip to increase your performance (you will need to check if your motherboard is compatible).

Macintoshes are not more powerful than PCs, although this may well change with the introduction of the Core Duo chips. C. Lambrechts is right in saying that if you are considering the Mac route then wait a while until you see how things pan out.

Cubase SX3 isn't available yet for the MacIntel machines and you will need MacIntel versions of all your plug-ins too.

You can use Cubase on XP on a MacBook with the same performance as if you would run a PC laptop running XP using the same Intel chips, though there could be slight differences due to other components, the motherboard, RAM etc.

Do you have a link to comparitive benchmarks? Also, do the Mac guys now agree that Power PC chips aren't as fast as Intels.

Do the PC guys remember how slow the Intels were compared to the PPCs - for a l o n g time? Add to that the insult of having to work with Windows.
