Pro Tools Output/Send > New Track/Track... Not working.

I've had a search on here and DUC and not come up with anything so I apologise if this is a common question, But I'm assuming there's a simple fix for it.

When setting up an Aux group or Send on a selection of tracks by clicking the output/send and selecting "Track..." or "New Track", the resulting outputs of the selected tracks and input of the new/existing Aux end up greyed out as if Pro Tools hasn't automatically created the Bus to send the tracks to and to set as the input of the Aux. I'm running Pro Tools 10 btw.

Is there a simple solution to this? is there an option in preferences or I/O that I need to tick? It's a useful feature that could save a lot of time in the long run, but it's no use if it doesn't work properly!

just a few minutes ago i updated my laptop from PT 9 to 10 and i'm now getting the same thing. i notice that what it's doing is sending to an output rather than a buss. anyone know where can this be changed so that it automatically assigns the sends to busses like it did in 9?

It seems like it's a fault that only occurs in PT10. There have been occasions where the function has worked normally for me, but 9 times out of 10 it does.

It seems in order to make the bus that the Output/send or aux input is set to, 'active', You have to go into I/O settings and untick the output box next to the bus in question. Which makes the whole function pointless and MORE time consuming.

I've been trying to figure out why it does this but it creates a bus and tries to map it to a physical output.

Go to I/O setup, bus tab, find the bus you created to route your signal to a new track, (or existing track), and deselect "mapping to output" checkbox... then the bus you've created will be activated.

Not sure why by default it tries to map it to a physical output. I've noticed this on both PT9 and PT10.

This happens is PT 9 for me also. I think it has to do with the 'last used I/O setting ' sometimes it will change the name to sends from an old mix. What Is this feature for?

Thought I was the only one...

Here's a bump and a link to my threads on the topic.. still no answers..

GS:
Assigning Sends to New Tracks in Pro Tools - default output?!

DUC:
Create new track using 'new track' in SENDS menu - output hardware instead of bus? - Avid Audio Forums

Edit:
Just saw Condorbc's post.. will try this tomorrow! Thanks.
