Waves C6 Multiband Compressor sidechain in Ableton Live

Hi!

I can't seem to figure out how to set up the C6 for sidechaining in Ableton Live 8. I've read the C6-manual, but it doesn't contain the information that I need. Any Live users out there who could explain how to do it?

Thanks

I only tried with the VST version of C6 but it doesn't work.
SC is quite bad implemented in Live.
Usually you assign the signal track output (in the "Audio to" menu) to the track where the plug is and then select it's name. Unfortunately C6 doesn't appear here.

Quick update as it does work in fact but only with the C6 AU version.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the reply!

Are there any other external sidechain compressors that work well in Ableton Live 8 (VST)? I noticed you wrote that SC is bad implemented in Live, so I'm thinking there isn't?

All the Ableton stock plugs work great with SC and I tend to use these but for the third party ones it's a bit of a mess as you have to route an output or use a return buss, not very straightforward!... at least you can and in the end you'll get the same result

I see. Well, I don't mind setting up the routing. Any quality VST's that lets me do that?

Btw, I agree that the stock plug works great, but I'm just so curious to test other compressors. I'd love to A/B how they all sound.

Edit: My bad, probaby misunderstood the "at least you can". At first I thought there would be other options, but I suppose you meant that at least I have a stock plug that I can use, right?

Anyhoo, thanks for the replies. Guess I'm stuck with the stock SC for now

Most of the recent VST/AU comps have SC implemented, there's a ton of threads about comps, eqs, fx plugs maybe you should have a look there, plenty of suggestions already.

PS: I just meant when you really need/want to SC a third part plug you can do it even if it's a bit of extra routing, not that bad
