RME fireface 800 for 750. good deal?

So a local pawn shop as an RME FF800 for 750 used. If everything works it sounds like a steal of a deal.

Do you guys think I should get it? I can get an MR816x for about the same. I was thinking of getting something a little smaller too. Like an impact twin or even the scarlet 2i2 by focusrite.

yes I would say that is a good deal. It is a rock solid interface! I bought mine used in 2008 and sold it in 2011 for $950 i think after buying an RME Raydat. The RME cards have exceptional drivers and stability! I don't know how the converters compare to the other interface you mentioned.

Thats a good deal IMO for the FF800
MR816X sounds better and has better pres. Thats what I have here
RME FF800 kills my MR in terms of input and output options though. Also, the routing options in the RME kill the MR816X as well, no comparison. So if you need a lot of routing options and
I/O options, it would be the better deal

I chose between the FF800 and the MR816X and the cost for the FF was too much at the time. Ive been happy with my MR816x

However, Ive been looking at this guy:

I have a pro 40, it works great and sounds great. I've had it for a year now. I don't plan to upgrade until I can afford a decent thunderbolt rig, maybe 3-4 years. Will either do focusrite or RME, whoever ends up doing TB.

The RME drivers are vastly superior to every other Firewire interface I've used (Focusrite, Steinberg, Apogee, M-Audio etc...)

It sounds great, although there are some better sounding units out there (usually costing a lot more).

The routing flexibility is completely unparalleled. Total Mix is worth half the cost of the FF800 alone if you ask me.

I've had mine for three years now and it hasn't skipped a beat, not once.

Can't recommend it enough to be honest....

Are we just supposed to guess the currency?

Yeah you are. I thought i'd throw in a fun guessing game to spice up the topic. Care to guess first?

Thanks for all the replies everyone! As good of a deal as it is I think i'm going to go with something smaller and cheaper with just a couple of pre's. I'll probably only ever do one instrument at a time. Strongly considering the scarlett 2i2

Well if you thought this website was American, you'd be wrong.
Is using a £, $ or € so difficult? Or maybe fill in your location. It is as much for your benefit as anyone else's.
