Well, since you seem reluctant to go to the Avid site and check there where the answer is printed...:
"Solid State Drives (SSDs) have not been tested or qualified for use with Pro Tools, either as system or audio drives."

Not the worst, considering the amount of products and support information stored, but navigation on that site is certainly demanding...

I can't think of any reasons why it wouldn't work.

We actually had SSD configurations which showed terrible performance with PT9.
That being said, every released system we tested with PT works great with SSD's. We mention it to the customer that it might affect AVID support, most of them don't really care about that. Their decision.

PT10 has the RAM disk feature, or whatever its called, which should be even better than SSD.

Its standard in HD or part of an expansion pack in the non HD version.

I think.

The extreme fussiness of PT's compatibility list is legendary. I'm surprised it works with a 3rd party mouse!

It's good that you don't call us blind, because in May, when OP asked and got some answers, that red text wasn't there yet...

So, thanks for the heads up, they finally support SSD's.

I'm just running and testing a PT10 install on a cloned OCZ SSD drive on my Win7/i7 rig. It seems a bit fussy with PT engine settings...it likes a buffer of 512 at 4 of 8 cores and 90% CPU. I run a Tascam DM4800 as a native interface and with this SSD I have to really watch out that I run that driver at what Tascam called Safe Level 3. If I don't pay attention to these settings I seem to get CPU spikes and audio glitches. I plan to boot into my Hybrid clone of the same OS image but with PT9. After running this config awhile I'll compare the performance. Just need a bit more data over time with the SSD.

Make sure to have the latest firmware for the OCZ. Older versions tend to turn it into an unreliable piece of junk. Not sure about the latest 2 versions, we haven't worked with them for a long time.

Thx for the tip...will check that out. Being my first SSD it's a bit of a test monkey and I have a Hybrid HD that is a clone in case of Failure anyway. I'm waiting for an 11 rack to arrive to further test this SSD install, after that I will boot to the Hybrid and compare real world use. The SSD is crazy fast booting to Win7...about 30 seconds faster than the Hybrid drive.

Actually it doesn't if it is bluetooth :P (I mean Avid doesn't support bluetooth stuff)

BTW Now PT has been tested with SSD...

I was considering to get an SSD drive... but I still have PT9, what do you think?
Will work?
Which one to get?
