PC Alternative to Logic's "Vocal Tranformer'.

Does anyone know of another plugin, any format, that changes the apparent "depth" of a voice/sound like Logic's Vocal Transformer? VT is useable if I record a lot of background vocal tracks and want to make some of them sound female, but I need something smooth/transparent enough to use on a single voice, without creating weird artifacts.

I don't need to go extremely high (Chipmunk voice) or low (tranny voice), just a subtle effect. I would imagine the "South Park" team uses some sort of method that's financially accessible to the everyman.

Thanks.

"Formant" modeling I guess is what I'm looking for.

Actually now I remember checking out Antares' Mutator Evo. In the samples they give on the site there's still a lot of weird doubling and shifting that could only be used as a special effect. Not sure if anyone's been able to use it more subtly...

No experience with Melodyne, except when I was having trouble with my Mac a while back, and someone suggested looking for a Melodyne folder and removing it.....It worked. I'll just assume it would be safe to install the program, although I don't know if I want to spend that much.

Forgot about Reaper's ReaPitch. Gonna try it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.....

...Actually this Reaper shifter is pretty good. It has a lot more parameters than Logic's two (pitch and formant). And you can adjust by cents. I suppose it does help my droll voice. It seems like +125 cents is about the limit when it comes to keeping it natural.

Would still like to hear from anyone that uses Melodyne, or any other plugin--or even hardware--that does formant manipulation. I think on South Park they record speed up the recording, which is much easier to keep natural.
