Mac Intel and Samplitude

I need a new PC computer and I was all set to build one. But now I'm wondering if the new Macs will run PC apps like Samplitude. Anyone know?

Well...

You'll have to install bootcamp and setup winxp sp2 on your mac to run pc app's, there aren't any virtualization tools or emulators that work very well yet. Shouldn't be too tough for someone to come up with something akin to transgaming technologies cedega/winex product, or codeweaver's crossover office, to run app's natively, but it isn't there yet.

It's like bassmutant said, you need an install of XP too and you boot into XP, anything that runs on XP will work. It offers the full OS performance. BootCamp is just a boot application.

There's a nice solution for using OS X and Xp in parallel.

I haven't tried it, because I haven't got a MacIntel yet, but the site says it has almost near native performance, meaning it runs almost as fast as it would running on its own.

Cool. Thanks for the info, I might wait for the Mac Intel desktops.

What about audio drivers? These work, like ASIO?

of course asio wont work havnt you read the above posts
OS X and windows are compleatly different, just because mac has moved to x86 processors doesnt make windows and OSX any more compatable

save your self time and mony and just go buy a PC

AFAIK Asio will work on the XP side.

And as for the price goes. A laptop with a compareable spec, from Sony, Acer, Dell, etc, costs just as much, if not more.
The same goes for Aopen's version the mac mini.
It's easy to compare these now as they use the exact same components!

I think Apple has a nice product with their Intel line and am very tempted by the new Macbooks, even if I only plan to run XP on it.

The question remains unanswered though; Is anybody running Samplitude on an intel? I'd like to hear if the process of installing it all was pain free.

I'm planning to give it a go this week, time permitting. Is there anything I need to be aware of before I go down this path?

Thx

I got one of the new Macbooks last week and installed an XP partition on it the same day. I've just been using Reaper on the Windows side so far, but I downloaded the Samplitude demo and will get into it this week as well.

There's a search engine.
