URS Channel Strip Plug-In is here!!

Currently demoing this product; will post back when I have had time to sufficiently test it. Affordable - $199 through the end of June, then $249 from URS direct.

Cheers,

J.D.

I like it... it's probably worth that for the compressor alone (and we are continuing the tradition of the GS'ers special with it, so.... ) I just wish the AU versions were out... I heard two more weeks, so let's keep our fingers crossed. I'm excited to try this plug in the context of a full mix, rather than just playing around with drum loops in Pro Tools LE.

tony,
i am about to buy an ilok to demo the various urs plugins.
until then how would you compare the eq section of the channel strip to the other urs plugins?
someone mentioned hf is not as "smooth"?

Need to check it out some more.

It's amazing what this thing can do for drums. As always, URS delivers the goods. I've yet to use a URS plugin that I don't like or don't find useful. Great job Nathan!!

I used it all of last night. I've been working on a live jazz/funk PT project by Pianist Bob Baldwin. Had the opportunity to compare it with existing plugs already in the session. I like!! Pretty straight ahead, simple but Potent little box..err..ah..plug.
Today, it's on to Rock n Roll mixing. I think that with the URS, SSL, McDSP and Channelstrip...channel strips... we're looking real good these days.
I didn't forget about Forte. I don't like it as much as the others.
Nicely done URS!

I would say it's much more limited... It has three frequency choices on the low and high shelves, and a sweepable mid between 220hz-7k. I have no idea which units they used for the models, but it sounds good to me.

No HP/LP filters? Sorta defeats the elegance of having the eq included for me...

The 110 eq's lo mid is one of the best of plug-land in my book.

Agree, thumbs up to URS

Don't get me wrong...I don't dislike the Forte. I just seem to gravitate towards other channel strips. I can't seem to get what I want out of that compressor sometimes. It's probably just me. I have the ISA 430 and love it for it's many features. Just not my favorite EQ. Go figure.

I'm using the URS strip on fairly loud rock guitars right now and while I do wish there was a HPF I'm diggin the strip. Well worth the $$ IMO.

So guys'n girls, what's the verdict?

Or has it ceased to make interest because of UA/Neve?

I will run it on a bigger session today, wondering how it will handle the drums...

Yes, only universal binary. No PPC version. Seems they may not make one. Which leaves all us out of the loop on macs running pre 10.3.9 operatin systems. Alas...

Any ideas folks ???

I was concerned they left me out, too, but I just downloaded and demoed the AU on my G4 running 10.3. Not Intel, obviously.

So, unless I missed something, all the formats are available.

i was under the assumption that UNIVERSAL meant both PPC and Intel.

otherwise, i bought this plug-in today and here's a warning to you folks with iLoks and intel macs... you have to launch Safari or whatever browser you use in ROSETTA mode in order to synchronize your iLok with iLok.com. Its pretty simple though (finder - app's - browser .app of your choice - ctrl-Click - get info - check "Open Using Rosetta")

iLok doesn't officially support intel macs ..... yet. they told me they would in a couple weeks.
I'm having no issues though, just remember the Rosetta thing for synchronizing to authorize URS plugs to the iLok.

Its a great plug-in. I normally use hardware eq and comp but lately i've had some quick deadline rough mixes to knock out and this plug will certainly help in giving those rough mixes a less rough sound, quickly.

can't beat the $200 introductory price for the native formats.

Hey, just demoing this channel strip. Anyone notice that there's been a change in URS' demo policy?

10 days OR 50 uses, whichever comes first. Does that mean opening the plugin 50 times or opening the DAW application 50 times (which is when iLok is polled. You can open all the instances of the plugin you need and then pull the iLok, at least in Pro Tools.)

Not complaining, just wondering. Bobby's company has always been awesome in all respects!
