The duet can get noisy if the monitor cables pick up power currents. Since the duet is powered from the computer, I had some issues with it when it was just on the desk.

If that's not the problem, did the upgrade reset your buffer settings?

I just went through this same issue with a new Duet 2 purchase. Was getting a buzz through my monitors. I tried EVERYTHING ... different cables (all balanced), different breakout cables, different USB cables and ports, changed locations in relation to the Mac and screen, different wall outlets and power bars.

Did a chat with Apogee support, they were puzzled. I brought the unit back to the dealer and they were nice enough to give me a new unit to try but I plugged that one in to find the same buzz problem.

Here's the kicker, I plugged an Mbox in the chain and dead silence.

I gave up and returned the unit for a refund. Was disappointed because I really wanted to downsize my setup but keep the quality. Back to square one.

PROBLEM WITH APOGEE DUET AND iMAC i7

I don't know if this will work for anyone else but it worked for me. I had the same nasty noise coming through my speakers when I used my apogee duet 2 and Imac i7 setup. All I had to do to take away ALL of the noise was plug my cpu power cord into another cord or plug that has no ground piece on the plug... I first used an extension cord and broke off the the ground piece then plugged it into a power strip. Hope this helps...sure beats having to pay for another piece of gear. Then again, these pieces of equipment shouldn't require anything eles in order to get the quality sound that we expect.

houndog328, i went through the exact same issue with my Duet 2. Constant light digital buzz through my monitors.. (could hear it also via the headphones output) I've tried lots of different configurations, with my mac pro and also my macbook pro (with the charger plugged and unplugged) and it didn't change a thing.. I also end up bringing back the unit to my dealer who gave me antother one, but same problem with the new unit.
I have another soundcard, a motu ultralite which is dead silent when connected to my setup.
I returned the duet 2 for a refund .. What i don't understand is that i've been doing a lot of research on google about the issue but there is very few people who seem to encounter this problem.
I'm really puzzled ..

lazybird777, for me it's not related to grounding issue. I've tried with my macbook pro with the charger (which is grounded) plugged & unplugged and the issue remains.
