Thread Starter | HELP ! ProTools madness Hi yall ! I am currently working on some mixes. And Protools is causing some trouble i cant get rid of : On four sessions ( out of 13 total ) i am getting a static signal on the protools mixer. [ see attached picture ] its causing nasty digital distortion. ( trashed all the prefs, digi setup etc.). the only way to make it work is to set all the in & outputs to none and assign em all again. this way i will lose all automation data. in fact of the session is close to be finished thats not a good idea. i just want to be able to recall the songs and do the final tweaks. its working with all the other songs so i am wondering what the deal really is ? thanks for your input, peace ! walking.mp3 = when the session was working walking dist.mp3 = the way it sounds when i try to recall the session mac g4 dual 800/1.25 gb ram/OSX 10.3.9/PT 6.4.1/mixcore/mixfarm*2/dsp farm/888_24*2/888_16/1622 |

| Have you tried to import all the tracks, plugins and settings to a new song? I think it's a bug, but since you're using the latest version which supports MIX, you can't update... |

| I've seen this before on large sesssions. Wasn't able to reproduce it consistantly. It was always caused the mixer configuration and generally came from an aux (as it seems your's is). Deleting the aux and recreating it solved the problem every time. In some instances changing the playback engine (adding or reducing the amount of voices) did the trick. It seems odd that you're getting on all 4 sessions...a reinstall of PT might be in order or at the very least try reinstalling the mixer plug in. HTH.

| Plug In Problem? that used to happen to me when i ran a MIX cubed on 9.2.2. I narrowed it down to one specific plug in i was using. Metric Halo Channel Strip. I may have had several opened, but if i started using too many, i would get loud static noise, or even nothing at all... the PT ch. meter would not even display nothing... even if the audio was still active. I had to delete the plug at then open the plug again. And even on a few times after that... it STILL happened. Now that I remember... it also happened with the SansAmp plug in. Perhaps you may narrow it down to a plug in and try downloading a newer version. While doing this, you may want to try using the plug in validator app. Even though it may not show you having outdated plugs... it IS always better to use the newest version. That, of course, applies to PT software and Computer O.S.. Good Luck!

| I've seen the same thing. I discovered that IKM's Amplitube would start spewing hash. It would be a uniform 'shhhhhhhh' and the only way to get rid of it would be to close the plugin and open a new one. I used to try to use the T-Racks compressor back in the day, and I'll say that even today it sounds good to my ears, but about half the time it makes really loud pops that will get right to the monitors, and it doesn't matter if the master fader is all the way down or not; the volume of the pops don't have anything to do with the fader. IKM said they had never heard of it, but I know of another case of the same thing happening. So I've decided their code is f-ed up. |

Thread Starter | it really has nothing to do with the plugs ( tried that alrdy ) ! i am " asuming " that the problem might be caused by the hardware inserts and the communication between the interfaces - computer. but thats just a guess gonna try later to import the session data ![]() |
