Can anyone suggest an effective way of transfering large sessions online between myself and my clients online? I know Digi has the Digidelivery system, but not everyone is using Pro Tools. Also, I'm at a pretty early stage in the game professionally and can't afford to set up my own server. When dealing with folders that range anywhere from 100 MB to 4 GB, can anyone suggest an online service that does this fairly inexpensively or give me an idea where to start looking? Much appreciated in advance, and I shall continue to research on my end! - Zen |

Might be cheaper than you expect. Pick up an old G4, should be about 100 USD. Install OS X Client start the FTP service and you're good to go. This app helps you manage accounts easier (IMO) than creating unique users in OS X. http://jeanmatthieu.free.fr/pureftpd/ Ok, you proably need some kind of fundamental understanding bout the operating system. If you're a Win guy I'm sure someone else around here could point you in the right direction re: hardware / software |

The DigiDelivery server is not only for "Pro Tools" files. You can send anything. I have clients sending me 4GB movie files that were done in FCP. Regards, Bruce |

Thanks for some early ideas. I am a Win-user, but I'm trying to transition over to Mac (I use Macs at the studio I work at, but not at home for my own independent work.) I didn't realize it was that easy to set up an FTP server on a Mac, though. Also, I didn't realize how versatile digidelivery is...though I also failed to note the price! But it's good information either way. Thanks! - Zen |
