Oddly enough, I am finding that Spacedesigner with a sh*tload of IRs of high end units is slaying all comers. | I was doing the same thing, but after I purchased a few great reverbs I found those to be more favorable.

Is there any free reverb plug in (not too bad).
I don't like the one in StudioOne and the Focusrite one is not amazing...

And you should try MeldaProductions great reverbs (MMultibandConvolution, MMultibandReverb and MReverb, all available as free trial versions) - not very well known brand, but with Melda-plugins you get very sophisticated highend plugins for entry level prices: MeldaProduction MMultiBandConvolution |

I did it, but I would be interested to see what others get.

You'll find an installer for the whole bundle here (first link): VST & DirectX Plugins |

I did it, but I would be interested to see what others get. | I was hardware only reverb guy when I worked FOH, of course not super highend, but a few Lexi verbs that ran into a few 1000, € or so I was told ( units didn't belong to me).
I already posted this in the thread, but I will say it again... Till I started using TC PoCo's Mega and classic Reverbs I was never happy unless I used a Convolution reverb with TC samples or Nebula Free Reverb... both of which killed my CPU :(
I've since expanded my reverb selection with Eventide and a few more I already stated.
Can't wait for Eventide to ports all their plugins to Native dsp
I'm loving it!

Imho one of the standard reverb-weapons one should have in his collection.

Some of the old plug-ins are still some of the best...
Powercore...
VSS3
DVR2
NonLin2
Some new "old" plug-ins are great...
Lexicon_PCM_Native
And some new plug-ins that are stellar...
2cAudio B2
Acustica Nebula with... VNXTBX15, VNXTBX20, VNXTEMT140S
For ITB Reverb, it doesn't get much better.
And a few honorable, less expensive, mentions...
Valhalla Room
Valhalla Shimmer
Audio Damage Eos
Eventide Blackhole
All that's left is to make some beautiful noise with them!!! |

I got IK Classic Studio Reverb on the group buy last year and even tho I've tried, I don't think I've used it at all, unless maybe "CSR Inverse" a few times. I keep thinking I will try to get into it someday, but that day hasn't come yet.
Eventide 2016 sits pretty tight as the main send reverb, but regulars are also D16 Toraverb and sometimes Lexicon LXP. It's really difficult to really nail the reverb with LXP, it stays in the mix maybe 20 % of the times I try it.
Just tried Flux Ircam Verb and it seems to excel in the plate/room/hall territory. Very nice sounds.
Gotta love reverbs..

I'm kind of ashamed about this
but I really like the reverb on the CLA signature series modules,
especially the "tight" on the vocals and unplugged ones
There's something about how the verb is filtered/eq'd that I really like, it seems
to put the verb at the right distance
I tried to recreate them and got kinda close with the Sonnox verb
after spending lotsa time on it but still, not quite, and not fast enough

This thread actually makes the whole issue MORE confusing, as it throws up dozens of new names I've never heard of while not making any definitive case for the usual contenders. Just the usual casual praise.
Anybody rate Reverence?

I like this thread because it gives me a million ideas of what to try out next--stuff I've never even heard of
the usual strategy if you're looking for answers is to try to define any trends being repeated in the thread along with absorbing some of the little review type posts. of course you have to try anything yourself and make your own answer, so, a thread of suggestions is the most you could really ask for anyway.

Oh yeah... I'll add, if you want spring reverb in an algorithmic plug-in, there is none better than Overloud SpringAge.
But if you want really stellar, beautiful spring reverb tones ITB... THE best is Nebula with VNXT sets.

+1
I am a fan of spring reverbs, and all the VNXT nebula stuffs sound sooo smooth, just beautiful.
Worth to be mentioned is also verbtone from sknote. It's really nice, when it works, it's a bit buggy with some systems.

does it get rusty? does dust get into the ones and zeros and clog them up?
does the manufacturer withdraw the software and deliberately rewrite the code and replace it without telling anyone?

I should note that Redline Reverb has been updated to 64-bits for Windows within the last few weeks, so saying that the plugin has "fallen into disrepair" is inaccurate.

Valhalla Room gets mentioned a lot, but I have also found Shimmer useful for some routine tasks (very low mix percentage and feedback values - it gives the big diffusion effect, possibly in conjunction with another 'verb).
And the Tape Reverb preset from Ubermod has been the starting point for more FX sections than I can remember (e.g. ukelele treatment on "Wouldn't it be nice" intro).
Aether makes a nice counterpoint to the Valhalla stuff, although I find there are some golden sounds and other real clunkers there.

i like the Valhalla Room and 2cAudio Aether, but the VSS3 is sitting in other league... the only reason im still having and using Powercore is VSS3.

For me, verb is verb. I can make almost anything work.
Having said that, I "grew up" spoiled on a real 140 plate verb; the UAD sounds very close to me. Then of course, like most, I've used the Lexicon HW over the years.
But one verb that really sticks in my mind is/was the Sonic Timeworks emulation
of the 4080L for the Creamware/Pulsar cards... it was like $500 but well worth it, at a time when most of the DAW verbs sucked. I'm not sure ST is even around anymore

It looks like he worked on several projects with Warp69 (Martin Lind) - SSL X-Verb, CSR, LX480.
