Planning&Project management software for Mac

Hi Slutz,

I am looking for a software on Mac (SnowLeopard) or iPad
to help for organizing and managing planning of several projects:

Let me try and explain:

I work for a few musical projects as composer, arranger, musician, mixer, re-mixer, recording guy, some functions all at once for a band and some only as one function, with some aspects managed time-wise by other people, and some directed by me.
Plus I do some freelance work as any of the above functions when
extra work comes my way.

These projects have various and different frequencies and intensities of work,
are different styles of music,
some are closely grouped dates for working, some more sparse, and
some in the farther future

Ok, I think by now you get the picture if you even understood it fully until here (pardon my Belgian ): it is really not easy for me to keep track
and keep everything organized as what is to be done soon, later,
what function will a band/project require from me at what time,

until now I just use text-documents on my desktop inside folders (named
after the projects) telling for example:
* what is left to be recorded for the lead vocals for one band
* lyrics needed for this or that song of another band
* band wants some strings parts in a month for this song
* re-mix ongoing for this artist : structure not ok yet, bass part to be
reworked
* for this particular song band wants a sound inspired by "this song of
this band"
* my own project's 5th track needs to be online by then, mix nearly
there only this and this to rework
etc...

When I write the above as such it is quite clear, except that having
much things planned and ongoing, the info is quite bigger, more detailed with frequent if not daily updates, changes, new ideas.

In the end if I keep one text document at hand for multiple projects, for this week's work,I need another for the next week and so on, and didn't find an agenda or planner that gives me daily/weekly/etc...details, overview for one project, and overview for more/all projects.

They all do some of what I need, but not everything.

So now, I have multiple folders on my desktop, with multiple documents like:
urgent, ongoing month, arrangement notes, recording notes, mix notes
etc..for each song of each project that needs work....

It is becoming quite messy and unclear, as I have to re-open most of the documents daily to be sure I don't skip a beat, or worse.

Maybe there is an easy solution/method/software for this,
but I didn't find one yet

Can you slutz help me out, share some info on how to manage
multitasking/multiproject planning, that would be awesome!

Regards

Nicolas

You need Things.

It will take a little time to get used to if you're not familiar with the GTD/David Allen stuff. But it's a great app and will help you track all sorts of projects. The file linking capabilities are amazing, too.
