Good question and not totally obvious..
It is for use with Logic´s i/o plug in..
Since there is no real time bounce in place, one have to route the track with the i/o to another track and record there and so on..with this solution, you just press record on the plug that´s after the i/o plug, and when done, just bounce in place and the recorded audio gets rendered in place, just as with the offline BIP, no extra routing hassle needed.
It works great with melodyne actually, but it just feels kind of overkill for this purpose.
