| Planning on computer build for PTHD AND video editing...
It's been about 4 years or so since I built my last DAW computer and it's still going strong, but it's a 32 bit platform, and as I just learned, that doesn't cut it for heavy video editing. So, I'm doing some research to try and build a new one that will:
-be very stable/compatible with PTHD or HDX
-64 bit based with lots of ram and able to smoothly handle video editing
I am currently on PTHD3 using the original pci cards.
I'm a little rusty on this stuff, but unless I'm mistaken, if I build a new latest-greatest PC, my original PTHD cards won't work because they're not pcie etc....right?
That's ok for now if I can't use my current PT cards with the new computer...as long as it will be compatible when I upgrade to newer cards or HDX etc.
Right now, I just want a 64 bit platform designed to handle loads of data for video and maybe running things like Omnisphere and BFD2 etc.
I've run through the thread above and am following it, but am wondering if anyone can shed some light on if my current PTHD cards will work in the newer mobo's or if a new PC will mean needing to upgrade my PT cards to use PTHD on the new computer.
Also, if there are any other "new computer build" threads you're aware of, please share the link.
thanks,
Steve
