Waves CLA Compressors vs. T-Racks Deluxe

Anyone have any hands-on experience with either of these? Specifically the 1176 clones in both (I believe the T-Racks version is sold separately from the Deluxe package).

Which package would you rather have?

If you're interested in T-Racks, they're having a great promo til the end of the month. I bought the Fairchild Single on sale a few months ago for $15 and now I can upgrade to the full bundle and get both the 1176 and LA2 singles for $99.

https://twitter.com/#!/ikmultimedia/...03488397000704

Apparently, if you don't already have one of their titles, you could buy their cheapest product (like a Sampletank library for $49) and get in on the $99 crossgrade. FWIW, their crossgrade page doesn't say that you can't crossgrade from a ST library:

IK Multimedia - Available Crossgrades

So, TR3 Deluxe + White 2A + Black 76 + a Sampletank library = $149 total

Download the demos and see what you think...

Both of those current deals is exactly why I made this post. Trying to decide between them both. Such good deals!

I suppose it depends if the T-Racks deal actually hits its mark. If it doesn't, you don't get the Black 76/White 2A....

In my opinion, Waves CLA-2A and CLA-76 are way more accurate to their analog counterparts than IK's. In fact, it does't really matter if they're accurate or not, the thing is they sound and behave much better.

IK's Vint 670 comp is a whole different story (though I've never worked with a real Fairchild 670 I can say IK's model sounds and behave very "analog").

Definitely download both and see what you think. I tried the newer T-Racks plugs against my UAD plugs and the Waves stuff. I ended up selling the UAD card. I liked the Waves plugs, but still thought the IK stuff edged them out slightly. Do a blind test and see what you think.

I was already in on this promotion, but when they doubled the free plugs earlier today, I got excited. Can't wait for my freebies!

That's true, but I think this is gonna' get them closer to the goal. And even if it doesn't get to 2000, the threshold to get at least one of the 76/2A plugs is lowered significantly.

I can't believe IK haven't promoted this more on the forums. I don't think enough people are even aware of it. Hmm, maybe I should start a thread?

Go for it! I'm hoping it hits 2000 as I'd be in for sure at that level.

Where are you reading this? From what I see on their site, the goal only says 2000, and I don't seen anything about receiving both the 76/2A..

Looks to me like you get only one or the other if it hits 2000.

Does anyone know if the whole bundle is now 64bit or is it just the 2 newer singles?

Yeah, they posted it on Twitter and Facebook today, but they kinda' dropped the ball in getting the word out on the forums. Either way, it's hands down the best plugin deal I've seen in a LONG time!

For more details, go here or check out the IK Facebook page:

CLA user here. The 1176 alone is worth the price of admission and pretty much gets used on every session. La2a and La3a also sound great. Have not tried the T- Racks stuff.

If you buy a Sampletank library for $49 and then get the crossgrade for $99, that's $149 total for all of the following:
  • T-Racks 3 Deluxe (Including the Fairchild 670, Pultec EQ, Opto-Comp, Brickwall Limiter, Phase EQ, all the Classic plugs and the Metering suite)
  • At least one (if not both) of the Black76 and White2A Singles comps (depending on how many people join the groupbuy)
  • One of their Sampletank libraries and the free Sampletank player

Or, if you already have one of their other products, (like me) it's even cheaper - just get the crossgrade for $99 and that gets you everything above minus the Sampletank library...

That doesn't sound like a bargain to you?

IK Multimedia's Black 76 and White 2A are excellent, I tried Waves but did not like them.

or you could PM me and just buy my opto comp and cross-grade. Win Win for all involved as I already own both black76 and White2A so the group buy is no good to me.

I looked into this kind of thing since i already had the opto, fairchild and pultec Singles and after buying the Deluxe-3, have now ended up with those in doubles. I would have given them away if I was able, but the License Transfer fee is $50 per plugin. You can find the plugs on sale for less than that, so it's not cost effective to bother with the Lic. Tr., just buy the Single on sale or buy the Deluxe-3 cross grade for the price of two License Transfers and get 9 plugs and a metering suite.

You mis-read my message, I already have an opto comp and I am just offering to sell to the OP since I dont reach for it most of the time. I already bought both the Black76 and the white2A so this group-buy is of no great importance to me.

Yeah, I liked both the IK and Waves better than their UAD counterparts, but the IK sounded just a little better to me. And, Mercado's right about the Fairchild - it's very good.

For $99, this group buy is a no-brainer, IMO!

Wow. I need to try the IK stuff.

I have Waves Platinum, all of UAD +++ and the Waves CLA comps are by far my favorite plugin compressors. The 1176 Blue Stripe in particular.

I dont know, I would feel like I rip somebody off. but 99$ crossgrade sounds better than 200$. but with IK Media stuff its always that you feel strange purchasing something. As if you buy lower quality. I dont know, just a feeling.

No I will not buy it ... I have over 20 plugin compressors. Why I need this?
What is so great about it? No! :D

Feelings aren't always rational.

To my ears, the IK models are as good or better than the comparable UA / Waves versions. But, compare them for yourself and see what you think. You may come to a different conclusion... or, not.
