Best virtual piano for film scoring?

Any ideas? Which would be better for an upfront/intimate sound?

The Fazioli Grand from Imperfect Samples. Or Emotional Piano from Tonehammer (now either Soundiron or 8DIO)....

How does the "Emotional" compare to Synthogy's stuff?

Intimate often means not so polished in these things, but what's upfront?

Let's say "dry" or without to much room/reflections.

I haven't tried it but I remember this one in the New Products forum a while back.
Dream Keys
It's supposedly designed to have that somewhat generic movie/tv sound.

The 8dio 1928 Steinway beauty is coming out today or tomorrow. I'll certainly be using it on my scores for the next little while. Another one I'll be getting is the new Cinesamples' Piano in Blue:

Legacy 1928 Steinway: Legacy 1928 Grand Piano

Piano in Blue: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...68763862_n.jpg

To hear it: Rachmaninoff - Prelude by Cinesamples

Bonus question: will either rone Emotional Piano for me (my present go-to)? Chances are... yes! 'Cause I'm a slutz down to my core!

PS: that skull and crossbones above? No idea! It shows up when I type rone. Or d e t h r o n e if you like.

Loving the Legacy 1928, if only they did a Kontakt player version. It looks a bit expensive if you don't have the full version Kontakt.

Just wondering 'cause I can't find the link over here.

I really wish I could say I've heard any sampled piano that sounds as good as the real thing. You get one sounding good and feel pretty good about it, then put on a record with a real piano like Grusin doing "On Golden Pond" and suddenly you just don't feel like such a hotshot anymore lol

That Cinesamples Piano in Blue looks amazing. I'm a sucker for those less clean piano samples with color and character...

this is my instrument of choice for general piano: Galaxy Vintage D

listen to the back italien concerto demo. it's stunning.

and as a film composer myself, i wouldnt say that there is a piano that is good for film composing. i would say that you should find a fantastic sounding instrument and then utilize it according to your needs. if it is reverb or delays you are looking for, add them after the fact. dont get a piano that is limited to that kind of sound.

i use ivory II a boatload - just the standard version with the steinway, bosendorfer, and yamaha

though i am very tempted by the 8dio and cinesamples recent releases! (especially when i thought i was content with my piano sounds)

im listening to the legacy right now. it sounds great, but im hearing a lot of noise in the sustain pedal samples i think. i can hear it in the solo demos. listen to the "images book" by debussy (demo #11). it's very pronounced.

the piano in blue doesnt sound good to me at all. just my opinion.

"Bach".

Yes, it does sound really good, very fluid and convincing. As with all sampled pianos, it can get a little harsh when played louder, though.

the more i listen to these 8dio legacy 1928 steinway demos, the more that noise sticks out to me. did they really screw up the sampling that badly?

One person's noise is another person's character. Just sayin'...

PS: I'm sure the noise is adjustable, btw. I'll set mine to 11.

Agreed, are those noises part of the sampled sounds? They seem a bit unpleasant, especially in the track 'Fluency' demo, at 0.21, 0.34, 0.49; are they supposed to be foot pedal noises? If so, I hope they can switched off. It's a pity, I do like the piano sound.

for sure. i agree that noise can add character. my issue is that it seems to coming in and out with the sustain or resonance samples. when noise pops in and out, it becomes pretty distracting.

maybe it's just a problem with the demos and the actual product is ok. i just dont know why they would post demos that have such an obvious flaw.
