Adat optical plugs?

I'm trying to connect a RME Babyface and a Focusrite Octapre via lightpipe.
But I'm a little confused since the cable hasn't got an identical plug on each side:

One end of the cable has this ordinary plug with a small pin sticking out. That one fits. The other end has a different plug with a longer pin. That I can't get to fit into the adat plugs on either device. Have I go a wrong cable or am I just clumsy in trying to connect it?

Thanks guys.

It has been identified as an minidisc optical cable. A wrong cable! Many a wonder that pop out of the boxes in the basement.
