question about haas effect

Apologies if this is in the wrong section,

I understand the Haas effect needing to pan one signal extreme left or right, one with a 15-35 second delay (give or take), as well as the drop in volume of delayed signal.

Lately I've been taking the original signal and panning that somewhere off center, still panning the delayed signal to the extreme left or right.

Is this an "acceptable" use of haas?
Are there side effects or any reason why this isn't a good idea?

Thanks for the education

I know one thing- you'd better be talking milliseconds and not seconds!

When I do Haas delays (which I love) I do what you are saying almost always.
For example the original is panned at 2 o clock and the delayed is 7 o clock. I like to adjust the delay time and volume of the delay track a bit to taste as the track plays and then call it a day.

Once again if it sounds good it most certainly is acceptable!

not sure what you're trying too accomplish with your use of the effect, but I usually like to make the original signal a few db quieter than the delayed signal - this is so they appear to arrive around the same time but in two different places.
