totally kicks some muthafunkin ass. best plugin to date ever made [hell, all of audioease, river run is amazing as well]. i havent tried to make any of my own samples yet. one drawback is its power HUNGRY. but even with it running mono->stereo, i can fill up a mix with as many psp, waves, ae, whoever else on my dualGHZ and be running @ 65% on the main processor and @ 30% on the secondary. as soon as you go to stereo->stereo, ya feel the drain. i cant imagine quad running except by itself.

some of the included impluse samples are pretty cool, some are so so, the cloneverbs are kinda boring [just like the digital boxes they spawn from]. they definately need a bigger library. i tried to get bob to sample his plate before he shipped it out but i never got the impulse responses back bob.

i would love to do a tour of the great rooms and sample them all. one of these days im going to sample the cove i live in, except i need a small explosion to get above the noise floor of nature.

so how was the sony?

Altiverb rocks, but Sony has done a better job of recording samples. But, 500 vs. 10,000 dollars. Not a hard one. And if you want, you can go rent a 480 and an AMS for a day and get all the patches you want.

Additional sounds come on CD's that

a) cost mucho $$$ (like $500)
b) Have a weird dongle with em, to prevent piracy

Actually, that's something I've wanted to mess with for a while (one of a very long list.) I've used Altiverb files as convolution files for the "acoustic stamp" process in Nuendo, so maybe it could be done. Do you still have the s-777, Jules? Try popping the CD into your computer and see if it will read.

thats another thing i thought of. using the altiverb and "sampling" an analog tape deck with the sine wave sweep to see if it would "convolute" that.
