Upgraded to G5 Need Serial Port and Memory

I have a MIDI Timepiece AV serial version I was using in a G4 which had a Steath Serial Port installed. Anybody using these in a G5 or I should I just buy a USB MIDI interface.

I also need more memory. Is Crucial memory OK or I should I go with the more expensive Kingston memory.

I will be running Pro Tools 7 HD2 Accel and Logic Pro 7.2.

It's time to buy a usb interface. If you buy a MTP you can network them together.

I have a dual 2G G5. When I bought it, the seller put an extra gig of RAM in, and I added another gig. Cheap, actually, the cheapest generic RAM. Then I got four gigs of Geil RAM with funny, weird heat sinks . Expensiver. Both kinds have worked perfectly for a couple of years.

Thanks for the advice on the memory. I'll order some from Crucial tomorrow. I might check out the Edirol MIDI interface as I don't need all the extra sync capabilities of the MTP AV anymore.

Anyone using the Edirol on a Mac with Tiger? Also, is the M Audio 8x8 any good?

Thanks, I didn't know they did those for G5's as well. Did you fit it yourself? It looks fairly easy on the website. Was it as easy as it looks?
