Just saw this in Mix. Plugin will consist of a 2" 16 track & a 1/2" 2trk. Due first quarter 2012.

it's in the "new products" section of the latest mix magazine.

The 2" 16trk model was from NRG Studios and the 1/2" 2trk model was from mastering engineer Howie Weinberg. Input drive, bias, tape type, tape speed, group settings, output. RTAS/VST/AU/AAX Mac & PC.

I like the fact they are keeping it simple with the controls. With all the other "tape Plugins" currently,...... theres WAYYYyy too much additional controls that are not necessary and end up making the plugin not sound like tape.

I have a feeling this one is gonna be outstanding. Simple, effective....and the only plugin that might actually sound like TAPE.

Man I already own all Slate Plugs and have the UAD tape machines BUT, based on the quality of VCC, FG-X and Trigger I must admit to being very, very curious. More to the point, once it comes out ( whenever that may be ), I'm definitely going to try it out just to see if it brings something new or at least different to the table. Another killer tape machine that sounds different from the UAD-2 is a welcome brush to paint with

hopefully AudioSuite? VCC, although amazing, is still working our rig real hard in PTs10. Fine in Logic, though (cause of 64bit)
Cranesong Phll does AudioSuite as well as ReelTape so hopefully Steven will be on board w/ that thinking.

I'm actually trying to get away from DSP cards. I'm going HD Native (or even PT 10 w/ CPTK) and I only use my UAD2 Quads for Studer and Ampex. Slate or Phoenix II just has to be as good and my Quads are on ebay.

And I was like " I only need Cytomic The Drop and UBK-1 for the next 10 years cause I am basically done" ... can't believe that these thoughts still happen ...

Studer is pretty much the only multitrack 2" machines that are/were used. With 16 or 24 trk headstack. Otari/Sony/MCI just didn't sound as good to most. The choice to model the 16 trk headstack is a nice touch.

Do we have confirmation that the 1/2" model is studer also? I don't know what Howie Weinberg is using since his move.

I could care less what they modelled. As long as it sounds good. I too am looking to get untied from DSP cards.

I'm pretty sure Howie still has his 2 Studer machines...

By the way, it's nice to see that it's on kind of "VCC Tape Edition".

I mean, they offer 2 machines, one aimed at being thrown on all the tracks, and one aimed at the master.

Good move Slate !

I'd like them to release FG-Q before.

Their mastering EQ based on Sontec or else.

Announced long time ago... No news since.
