Mac Pro 4.1 upgrade w3520 to w3565

Hi,

I have read all the threads on tweaking a 4.1 MP to a 5.1 MP, however, since some people seem to experience problems, I wonder, whether a simple CPU upgrade without EFI manipulation from my w3520 2.66/1066 to a w3565 3.2/1066 is possibly, since the MP 4.1 was never sold with a w3565.

So in theory, I suppose it should work, did Apple do anything against that?

Thanks for answers
Leif

The firmware update is easy to do. I have done it to two 2009 mac Pro´s and put W3680 in one and W3690 in the other. Hexacore with 3.33 and 3.46 Ghz.
