UAD-1 on PCIe to PCI expansion chassis on Mac G5?

Anyone running this configuration? I've maxed out the abilities of my G4 (Digital Audio w/ s..l..o..w.. 133MHz system bus) uprgraded to dual 1.8GHz, and am jonesing for a new G5 quad core. I love the UAD-1, and don't want to give that up.

I'm running 002R/PT-LE 6.4 on OS 10.3.9 and will upgrade to Tiger and PT7 with a new computer.

Any suggestions? Networking over ethernet? Thanks for any help.

If I were you, I'd wait for the UAD-2(if that's what they'll call it). They have to be working on this. A PCI-e card. It's the only way they'll be able to stay in the game with MAC. An expansion chassis is not going to give you the full benefit of the PCI-e Buss. Just hang on a bit.

I'd also wait for the Mac Intel Quad.

Gosh, I just wish they wouldn't leave us all in the dark. It's really a hang-up when trying to figure out how to upgrade your DAW. Can't live without the UAD plugs though.

UAD is a great company and I perfectly understand why users become very attached to their UAD software and hardware, but it's time for UAD to move on to PCI-Express.

The trouble is they are sitting on an overstock of UAD-1 PCI/PCI-X hardware that they want to clear at as little loss as possible.

In all fairness, I'm sure the cost to re-tool for PCI-Express is no simple matter for a relatively small company like UAD, but it IS time to move on.
