Issues with Motu 828 mk1 drivers

Long story short: My sound card crapped out on me and now I have this Motu 828 Mk1 on loan from a friend.

As far as my research goes, the drivers for the mk1 are not available on the motu site anymore. I've also read about people having major issues with the most current drivers (v1.5.1) for the mk1, and available on the same site was an earlier upgrade for the drivers (v1.4.9).

This still didn't solve my problems as my macbook pro did not recognize the motu, and I wondered if any Motu 828 users have had similar issues. Please help!

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,4
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

The drivers are the same for ALL MOTU firewire devices.

They have been rock solid for me.

Check your cable or try another firewire device.

I've been able to get another firewire device to work with the same cable. Everything should be in order. I'm going to take a look at a pdf of the manual, otherwise everything looks in order.

oh and I'm running osx10.6.8 if that makes any significant difference

I have an 828mk1 running fine with a Mac Pro in 10.6.8 using drivers from August's general MOTU_Audio_Installer-Mac-110806.zip / Firewire drivers.

Does the mk1 have a hardware reset procedure? I can't remember. Might be worth investigating.
