pro tools bfd recording midi track on pc help!

hi guys,

creating two new tracks - aux and midi.
inserting bfd lite into the aux track etc,
getting midi levels coming in but when i record etc nothing is recording on the midi track. i've checked the ins and outs and record arms etc . had a mate come round a he set it up as he would on mac but exactly the same thing, can hear the bfd via the keyboard and have a level on hte midi track but nothing on record!

any ideas fellas??

It'd help people to help you if you told them what software you're using.

also can't get a click track to work (well). as an insert on an aux track it gives me a few clicks and that's it (but keeps on scrolling etc). does this sound like memory?
i checked the compatability chart on the digidesign site and it seemed fine - amd athlon 4200 with 2 gig ram.

just for the sake of it i tried recording 10 or so audio tracks and bunched a heap of plugs on them (don't know if this is a good test of processing power) and there were no probs with playback etc (other than no click). from my absolutely no knowledge position it looks like the aux and midi tracks for recording say bfd and a click are the probs??
