Question Looking for Analog channel/tape emulation plug for TDM/Direct X

Is there a HIGH Quality analog channel/tape emulation plug that I can use with Wavelab 4.0 TDM/Direct X? I've heard great things about the one put out by McDSP but I don't run a Mac.

Thanks,
Dyno

I like psp vintage warmer. Some folks dont. Lots of folks do. In any case you can download a demo from them and decide for youself

Check it out!

I think McDSP is ProToolz only. I also prefer the PSP Vintage Warmer although just running it out through some transformer-coupled analog gear is often more effective than any plug-in.

I'm also going to try to run my mixes thru my pair of Telefunken V76's. I tried it thru my pair of Avalon VT737's and I really liked the results. Much sweeter, fatter and a little more punch.

Bomb guy...AES show is over. Where's the new plug?

Just thought I'd follow up on the Bombguys bait. Was there a new plug in like this at the show?

Nothing that I know of was released. Erik, that was a really good one, you had me fooled. I really thought you were going to have some cool analog emulation plug that made everything sound perfect. Hehe, maybe NAMM in Jan...

Agreed. (wassup, Jules?) The Phoenix is wonderful.
I still also find plenty of use for dadTape. Apples and oranges...

One odd thing about the Phoenix, though: I seems to add about 2 db to the rms level of any track. (DadTape does not)

This may be a side-effect, or it may have been added as a rather clever marketing gimmick, hard to say. regardless, you must adjust for this when a-B'ing you unprocessed audio, as well as when A-B'ing against other plugins. I hope Cranesong can eventually "fix" this, as it drives me nuts.

I was hoping that I would be amazed by loading up an old session I did and inserting the Phoenix on all channels without first auditioning and I was without a doubt amazed. It was one big distorted mushball. The gain that it added on each channel was more than enough to overload the master fader. This is a plugin that you need to add before you start your mix, not after. It does make it hard to A/B processed and unprocessed signals but I would rather it add 2db than to take it away and add it again. Once I started to get used to how it worked I really started to like it. I'm glad they gave me 20 days with it instead of just 10 cause I will end up buying it now.
