Using rme multiface but need more i/o, anyone got clever ideas or...

Looking to expande beyond the RME Multiface II's eight in and out analogue jacks, would like at least double the in and outs...

But..RME sounds good, works well... is there something else in a lower price range that can give more routing but not compromise on the quality heavily?

I don't really need mic pre's to be outstanding as i want to route to extenal hardware more for mixing within Logic..

I would like good AD/DA quality comparable to the RME i am used to..

I heard you can chain two Multiface II's together with one PCIe card only, but searched here and it looked slightly confusing... Instructions anyone? Without doing a load of old adat machine wierdness.. i read you can use Spdif to joind Multifaces together or something???

Is MOTU 24IO any good? Is the sound quality a noticible step down from the RME?

Any other solutions i can be told about?

Thanks to anyone with this knowledge to share!

Zz.

just add a stand alone AD/DA and connect it to the RME via ADAT. works perfectly

there are a few out there in various price ranges.. Lynx aurora8 + adat card, apogee, Universal audio 4-710D, RME AD series, presonus etc.

edit: the multiface converters show their age when compared to newer offerings. the RME fireface is noticeably better than the multiface. not sure how it'll compare to the MOTU 24io.
