Looks pretty nifty, though...

Self-tuning guitars have been around for quite a while. Most have an onboard computer of sorts combined with a piezo bridge. It seems that if something makes this particular product innovative, it is that it doesn't seem to require major modifications to the guitar itself.

yeah, according to the video, you can remove it at any time, doesn't require any drilling or anything.

I would love to hear some real world reviews of this thing.

instant open tunings! you can even set up a custom tuning if you want, and save it for recall later. F*cking awsome if you ask me.

My only thing, is that it involves lots of moving parts, and I would be curious to see how well this system stands up to the test of time.....how long before one of those motors goes out?

Cool

Ive seen the system at the London Guitar Show and was given a private demo.... It´s unbelievable, but it´s true. Tronical´s Powertune offers standard tuning, open tunings, 30 user presets, calibration mode, intonation mode, manual tuning in between seconds, at the touch of a button....wow
String up & down mode allows you to restring your guitar in 4!!! minutes....
All this without changing your guitar in any shape or form, no drilling, no cutting, no screwing...nothing at all. The balance and of course the sound haven´t been altered. As for installation, simply change the bridge, the volume-pot and the tuning pegs... that´s it. Definitely the coolest thing I´ve ever seen...
Available on the high streets by August..yyep
