Recording RT playback

Howdy.

If i process a track with a certain chain of effects and then import that file back into the DAW and line it up exactly with the other track, they do not null.
Most of the song has nulled, the remainder is mainly the high end.

Now I'm not doubting anything here WRT to math, but i would like to know why it is so.

Does it have to do with automatic delay comp, cause i don't know. (Samplitude)

The reason i ask is, when mastering i set up my effects and am happy with what i am hearing, but the processed track sounds different than the real time playback.

The thing is i cant say weather it sounds worse or better. just different.

Does anyone else encounter this situation and if so what are doing about it.

I am thinking of routing the digital signal out of the digi 002 via s/pdif and then back in again and monitor through that signal and when im done press record.

What do you think guys.

Cheers
