MIDI control of Logic soft synths

I'm thinking there must be a way to do this, but I'm not very good when it comes to MIDI so before I waste my afternoon away trying to figure it out, I thought I should ask first. Is there a way to route MIDI messages from my EMU Xboard to the software instruments in Logic? I'd like to be able to control at least some of the parameters without having to grab the mouse every time.

Good question, I'm fairly new to Logic so perhaps someone more experienced can chime in. I just got my midi working properly using my hardware controller connected to Logic and routed out to control my hardware synths. Man it was confusing just getting it set up, but now that I now how it works, it's almost second nature. Anyways, I don't think that's your problem. Although it might be. I just created new instruments in the 'Environment' and set the right midi channels for my hardware synths.

Don't you have to program the Xboards knobs with specific CCs first? Sorry for lack of help. Not sure.

yeah, im sure that you're on the right track as far as changing the CC's on the xboards knobs. im just not sure how you assign specific CC's to specific functions from within Logic. Im sure its something in the environment window, but thats as much as I know. That environment window confuses the hell out of me.

rids--- wanted to let you know i figured it out and its super easy. Just open the synth, click on a parameter, then go to Logic -> Preferences -> Control Surfaces -> Learn assignment for _____ (it should say the last parameter you clicked on in the blank). Then twist a knob and off you go. Just thought that I would fill you in man. Peace
