A software replacement for my Nord Lead?

I have a great love for my nord lead but I like to keep all my sounds in the in the pc at this point. It just keeps my life nice and simple. Has anyone here found a good replacement in the VAST land of VSTI's?

Thanks for any advice

For sheer beef and snappy envelopes nothing beats the Virus in my book. But you'd need a powercore for that.
The upcoming Komplexer from Terratec supposedly is very good (but more like a Waldorf Q)
I've heard good things about Vengeance as well, though I haven't used it.
Also check out the Arturia stuff, the Arp is very good.

Cheers,

Joe

Yeah, you don't want to use that obsolete old thing.

You want me to haul it off for you?

DiscoDSP's Discovery is supposedly a clone of the Nord Lead.

Now. It doesn't sound exactly the same. But there is supposedly a way to do sysex dumps into it. (I don't have a nord lead II and I've never tried.)

Well ..

I have had several Nord synths in my time. Nordlead, Nordlead II, MicroModular and Modular Keys.

I recently purchased the Discovery 2.6 that was mentioned above and it's definetely close enough to ther 'real deal'.

It sounds awesome and the import sysex functionality makes it a winner in my eyes.

But download the demo and try it out. Maybe it's not what you're looking for, but IF you're looking for a Nordlead softsynth this is as close as you get.

There is also another synth that people claim sounds like the Nordlead. I DON'T think to but again; it's a matter of taste.
It's called Synth1 and best of all, it's FREE !!

You can find it here:

For more info in a language you can read go here:

I love Disco DSP..one of the best VSTI synths out there. Still doesn't have the beef of the hardware nord though..I layer it usually.

http://www.discodsp.com/discovery/

It loads even Nord Lead sounds and comes with all the factory sounds and many more as standard.

Great synth!

+1 for Ultra Analog

Surprisingly,

FM7 and CS80V have also gotten close to what I remember
the Nord Rack 2X sounds like...

but it depends a lot on programming of course

Have you considered the nord modular engine? it's a 1u 19" rack unit from nord with nog controls on it and you manage it wholly via the pc and can play with it like a plugin i thought. For more info, visit the nord site!

On the other hand, the Access virus powercore is killer too! plus with the PoCo you'll get a lot of hi quality plugins.
