Installing Komplete 8 with Komplete 7 already installed...

Hi All-

I have Komplete 7 installed and Konakt's library is on an external drive while other libraries that play in Kontakt (Evolve Mutations Bundle, Imperfect Samples, Session Strings Pro, etc) are installed on other external drives. I have things spread out.

Anyways, I pre-ordered Komplete 8 a couple weeks ago and am wondering if anyone knows whether or not installing Komplete 8 will overwrite Komplete 7...or are they different files...how should this be done, etc...Will this be an ADDITIONAL 110Gb's?? (or however big it is).......etc, etc, etc.....

I know it's not out yet and no one has any experience with Komplete 8 but was hoping someone has gone through something similar when updating, for example, from Komplete 6 to Komplete 7.

Any installation advice would be greatly appreciated as I plan on moving things around on my drives before it arrives.

Cheers,

Scott

I have K5,K6 and K7 on my mac.
K5 resides in it's own folder and K6&K7 share a folder. The Komplete. Package is just a bundle of apps, you can open anything from any version of K omplete you have.

Thanks.

So in other words....see them and install them as two separate products...ie use a separate Kontkat folder for stuff from kontakt 4 and 5. The only thing that I wonder about is aren't some of things in Komplete 7 identical to some of the things in Komplete 8....some of the keys/pianos for example...?

Thx.

Each will open in their respective app, if something is a Kontakt program/instrument then it will simply verify that you have the proper authorization info stored when opening it. And even if you install an older version over the top of a newer one (like say K6 over K7 and revert Kontakt4 back to the inital version)...the service center should detect that you have an older version and show the newest update available to all your licenses. In the event that you have say Kontakt 3/4 and 5 installed in parallel (Komplete 4/5/6/7 and then 8...) you'll simply wind up with each version installed.

The real hassle imo is when you deal with Komplete 3 through 5, as NI's installers and updaters were a real mess for that era. So I just install the most recent version of Komplete for projects I need to open and go from there, the rest can go on extra machines in the room.
