Thread Starter | cpu speed and it's ability to process data - can you explain?
I'm in the market for a new computer and am deciding between various mac models. I currently have a 2007 2.16ghz C2D iMac. I'm wondering if anyone could explain to me how a similar speed C2D chip processes data vs. how an i7 chip would. What I know is that I have a software piano that stresses out my current 2.16ghz cpu and just passes the threshold of making it unplayable with most piano programme material. How would a 2.0ghz i7 deal with the same load? I understand that software instruments are processed entirely by 1 core while they're being played live. Would the same piano part tax a 2.0ghz processor at all, or would it not even show as much load on the meter? Thank you. |
