Sounds like you're not dithering correctly when you bounce.

Hi Carlheinz,
I like you have never thought the sound of PT7.4 in bounce mode was worth doing. I just send my track(s) out again through my Chandler mini mixer and any processor I may want in the chain and back into my BLA modded 002. I make sure I have the recording channel muted and volume on absolute minus.
A few guessing games with the question of "what will the mix sound like" but with experience of my outboard hardware, it works for me.

003 signature mod or Rosetta 200?

I currently have a 003 rack and am looking to get the signature mod. I know the mod upgrades the AD/DA, but i am wondering if i would get a better quality sound from the mod or from a Rosetta 200 and a stock 003 rack?

Anyone heard a Metric Halo 2882 in comparison? Been running the MH via ADAT into a stock 002r for quite a few years now but have been itching to try recording at higher sample rates. Not too crazy about switching DAWs at this point so was thinking of trading the 2882 towards a BLA mod. Any thoughts on this much appreciated...

Must be missing something here??

anyway....

The tango mod I had done was the premium mod which did indeed include upgrading all the analog stages (opamps) converter decoupling and "power rail cleanup"

I do not know what all that means exactly as I don't have that kind of technical background - I do know that what I got back was a significant (and I mean an extremely significant) improvement over what I sent up there..and I already thought the tango was a more then decent converter for its age and what I paid for it used... it is now just a good, quality converter... no need for qualifications like "for the money" etc,etc..

I cant stop thinking about this mod for my dead o2... but than i was thinking about clocking.. if i want to use blaOO2's clock, the HD24[for 8 ch in], and Rosetta2OO[for 2 ch in].. i would have to go lightpipe out to HD24 set to adat, then bnc out to rosetta set to ext. , lightpipe out hd24 to blaOO2 set to optical to use the bla clock for all? or spdif out to rosetta set to ext. , bnc to hd24 set to word, adat to bla oo2 set to optical?

You've got the right idea. Just set the HD24 to look for clock signal on the incoming ADAT optical signal. Then have a BNC connected between HD24's Word Clock Output to the Apogee Rosetta's WC input and clock the Rosetta off of that. I do this routinely (different gear, however, save for the 002r Signature) and it works fine. One who is into splitting hairs might insist that the clocking be properly re-clocked and distributed through a master clocking device (a Big Ben, for instance). However, I find that it works and I notice nothing to complain about... other than the normal limitations that arise as a result of the presence of the 002r itself (no S/MUX support, word clock I/O, etc).
