Thread Starter | Minimal System Instruments Scam Minimal System Instruments - Professional plugins for the studio
Just posted this on KVR too.
Judging by a few of the post I've seen here about these guys most of you already know to avoid their plugins. Unfortunately I just had to see for myself. I bought a few of their "pro" quality plugs and got nothing but useless garbage in return. One of them actually did nothing. Seriously, no matter how you tweak it it does absolutely nothing at all.
The common consensus is that these are simply ripped off Synthmaker modules with a pretty GUI added.
Do you self a favor and steer clear of this company.

Its shame people would do such a thing, and think their customers wouldn't notice that their plugins did nothing.
Thanks for the heads up btw.

I've registered to defend Minimal System Instruments against this attack and allegation. The original poster purchased the plug in bundle continued to email an aggressive message to me claiming that the plugins do nothing etc. That is simply not true at all. The filter is a high end filter that works perfectly (free download on the site if anyone wants to try it), the limiter does what it says on the tin and boosts the signal without distortion, the delay works as a sync able delay, the booster boosts low frequencies, the bright plugins adds air and boosts the higher frequencies, and the dirty bit plugin adds dirt to the sound it is applied to.
To say the plugins do nothing is a complete fabrication as all our plugins are beta tested before release.
The user has been refunded even after his scathing and frankly disrespectful emails and even though he had the opportunity to try before buying.
MSI are a very community oriented project and we listen to all our customers feedback and implement it accordingly into our plugins. We even develop plugins for individuals who are looking for something a little different. Yes we use SynthMaker heavily but to say that we steal modules and sell them as our own is not fair.
If anyone has any questions I am willing to answer them respectfully and honestly.

If there are demos of the plugins and those work properly, then such bad press from an anonymous person on internet will be discredited. Good luck with your plugin company. I'll take a look at them when I have a minute.

Its frustrating when people like the original poster call us scammers when we haven't done anything of the sort. We have many happy customers who we work with closely to update and improve our products.
It is sad that there are people out there intent on destroying what is primarily a community project. Minimal System Instruments is about having fun and providing the community with plugins that we feel are of a high quality for a low price. We are not about making massive amounts of money, we just enjoy making music and producing tools to make music.
We don't hide anything and hope that people can see us in a positive light.

I downloaded Big Knob Filter, Sawrus & Synthetic. (Free plugins)
First tested in renoise, could only find Big Knob Filter, other two plugins not visible even after 4 scans for VST plugins. So I tried to put the Big Knob Filter onto a track to give it a test but it would not load onto any track.
So I loaded up wavelab to see if it's a renoise related problem with the plugins. But again only Big Knob Filter was visible, but it worked fine in Wavelab and worked as a filter should, quite basic but quite interesting also and a bit different to others.
Any idea's to these problems?

Any idea's to these problems? | Would you mind trying a demo of one of the commercial plugins in Renoise to see if it is visible in the plugin list? If not we will get onto figuring out why that is. We haven't done any extensive testing in Renoise so could be something we need to look at. All our plugins are currently tested in Ableton, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper, FL studio, Sonar on various systems before release and work without issues. Thanks for the feedback.

Okay don't have to much time left tonight so gave two demo's a try.
First tried FiltR bank Pro and it shown up in Renoise, however when I loaded it renoise told me the VST had crashed and do not continue to use the plug in on your song as it may cause you to lose your work etc etc (Then it said it's likely a bug in the VST)
But tested it out anyway further to see what I could do, It loaded the GUI and could see the VST there but it muted the track, and then when I tried to adjust something it crashed Renoise. But the plugin worked fine in Wavelab.
Then tried the MoogI Analogue Filter and it works fine, I can adjust everything with ease and it's actually pretty good, it's actually something I would use on some projects. (This also works fine in Wavelab)
Either way to avoid derailing this topic I think we should consider continuing in private and work on getting all plugins to work correctly within Renoise. It's a popular DAW also used by some top producers and with the right promotion etc people who use Renoise would be interested in Minimal System Instruments plugins.
To anyone doubting Minimal System Instruments though, the bugs I have encountered are clearly related to Renoise and Wavelab which are two peaces of software which have not been tested with these plugins properly, but I am sure Minimal System Instruments will work on fixing this.

We shall look into fixing these bugs.
Back to the thread, if anyone has anything to add please do as I am here to answer any questions and address any doubts people may have as to the legitamacy of Minimal System Instruments.
I would also appreciate some more input from the poster who started the thread.

This is an older thread, but today was trying out a bunch of filters for drumloop in song and I really like the Filter bank. I also tried to get the same result with Cubase stock filter and with Waves RenEQ and got close but not quite.
Other filters (most free) couldn't bring the sound.
What I wanted was a silky bright HPF to stand out a bit in the mix and just be nice to hear, it surely brings a bit extra to of the sound just as I imagine a good character EQ will.
So I will buy the Filterbank Pro that has some more features.
So when I read this Thread I thought, this is not my experience.
Try it and compare to the filters you already have.
