stereo widening plugins

Do you ever use them on the master? I'm demoing schwa CMX, and I have a voxengo plugin I sometimes use to time delay one side of the stereo track for this purpose.

I'm kind of addicted to it, but it's always a compromise, usually losing focus and tightness for the effect.

Sometimes. Used to use it more. Flux Stereo Tool is nice and free. Brainworx has some nice options for this stuffed in their plugins as well.

CMX is awesome - I didnt think it was strictly a widening plugin though (like PSP Stereo Enhancer or Waves S1 Imager)

I use Sonalksis on the master. Not more than 140% usually and I keep everything below about 500hz in mono.

CMX is not a plugin for the mixbuss.

It's more like a "doubler", not a stereo enhancer.

MeldaProduction have a decent stereo spreader in their free bundle.
QuikQuak have a stereo widener as well.

Both for PC and mac.
