PCI interfaces - Digital input (AES, T/DIF, ADAT..)

Heya.

I've got a possible purchase on the boil, but i'm a little confused as to whether it is suitable for my situation.

The bit'o'gear is an Apogee AD8000. I'm running a PC with XP, yadda yadda, and I wish to use ths unit as my in/out.

It occured to me though that if I wish to be able to use 8 channels in and out (via an expasion card on the apogee unit) i'll need a PCI interface... but digital only.

It sounds dumb, but i've only ever seen PCI interfaces that include an A/D and D/A element. To pure digital interface, sans conversion, exist ? Surely they do.... My google searches have not revealed anything like I wish for though...

Any suggestions ?

RME does also do AES-EBU now...

though if you'd need only 8 channels, or don't think you'll epxand much more, the lynx might be a better choice.

RME's totalmix rocks IMHO!
