Behringer ADA8000 to PT hd core?

I have an hd2 system with 16 channels of lynx aurora 16 I would like to add a Behringer ADA8000 for 8 additional channels but do I need some kind of interface to get the optical into the computer??
I've been trying to research all over the net and can't find any info
thanks in advance

yeah I know it's sketchy sonically but it's for some extra channels that I need once in a while

The Behringer AD outputs ADAT, and the DA accepts ADAT. HD cards accept digi HD protocol. You need at minimum a 96i. It has 8 analog ins and outs on its own, and also has 8 channels of adat at 48k.

I would forget both the ADA8000 and the 96i.o and get another Lynx, the 8 channel version with the HD card.

You need a tech. If you've got an HD2 rig and couldn't figure this out with a Google search, you need a tech.

I don't need a tech I have you!! lol
Yeah I figured there was no way to do adat in.....I just couldn't find any info on it anywhere and was trying to confirm.
I was also trying to avoid spending another $2000 plus for another Lynx.
Lynx/hd card/additional patchbay. I only need 24 channels for some transfer stuff but not enough to warrant such a big expenditure.
thanks

Digidesign 192 Digital on Ebay for $1k or less. This will give you 16 channels of ADAT i/o. Connect to ADA8000s to them for 16 channels of i/o for under $1500 that will sound just as good as solutions twice the cost.

People were doing the ADAT Bridge thing which give you 16 channels of ADAT at max 24bit/48Khz. This is a legacy device and I do not know if it is still supported.

I know someone who is still rocking a Digital 192 and ADAT Bridge with 4 "B"Words ADA8000 and PTHD 7.4.

Yep that's 32 channels of A/D/A for under $2k!

I bought a ADA8000 for more synth inputs in my gig rig. With Wordclock sync it has been 100% since I bought it about 4 weeks ago. It has never lost sync.

96 i/o

now I'm thinking a 96 i/o will give me 8 more tracks and will hook right up to the HD card for around $800 with no adat anything in sight and is still supported.

mac g5 2.0 4 gigs ram
pt 8 hd 2
lynx aurora 16
black Lion Micro Clock II

The A/D on the 96i/o is Yuk! In other words you will not use it. You can score a Digidesign 192 Digital for the same money as a 96i/o and have 16 channels of ADAT i/o.

These pair good with the ADA8000 and you will have 16 channels of great A/D/A vs just 8 channels of crappy conversion and 8 channels of ADAT....
