or rather it keeps bring you in a circle back to that page. | it should open an itunes link, if you have itunes and let you download it for 200.
after you download it, inside the app will let you download all the loops and sound fx

Don't know what you're talking about. Go to the link I posted, then click on VIEW IN MAC APP STORE (you are on a Mac running at least 10.6.8, right?) and the Mac App Store opens and shows you the LP page and the ability to buy for $199
I hope you understand that since last year the $199 LP has been download-only from the MAS, and that the MAS is only accessible for download only through the MAS app on Macs.

Thanks.....No ........On 10.5.8 running Logic studio.
I think my buddy is also at 10. something...not 10.6.8
Also running pro tools so I have to check on tech specs to see if PT will work with the OS 10.6.8.
So I guess if your not running the 10.6.8 it will not allow you to view that page for purchase?

If you don't have at least 10.6.8 you don't have any access whatsoever to the Mac App Store (built into 10.6.8 and later through a MAS app, and as a permanent menu item in the Apple Menu to launch the app). http://www.apple.com/osx/apps/app-store.html
When you buy apps they download directly into your Applications folder and an icon for the app gets put in your Dock (which you can of course remove if you want). Buy LP through the Mac App Store and you can download it on any Mac you own (after logging in with your AppleID). If your Mac crashes, re-downloads are free. When you periodically visit the MAS you'll be told if any purchased apps have been updated and you can download the updates with one click: the old version gets trashed, the new version gets installed automatically.

That was at a time were Apple was in really bad condition financially, almost bankrupt )
A big DAW unique to the Mac = more people ( musicians and audio people ) buying a mac just to get that software.
More audio people buying Macs = More audio developpers making stuff for the Mac.
More audio developpers making stuff for the Mac = More audio people buying Macs.
Etc...
So you want to be careful not to break that circle. Give Logic for free, and all developpers will hate you, because they can't compete with that. And if they can't compete with that , they will simply stop developping for the Mac and go PC only.
As much as Apple are control freaks, they're not stupid either. They certainly don't want to see all audio developpers leaving the platform, and Logic as the only choice left. Apple wants to see more software developpers competing on the Mac platform and choice thriving.
They will always lower the price enough to make the software attractive and to stimulate the competition, but never low enough as to kill all software competitors. Apple makes it's dough on the hardware, not the software.
That's also why you'll never see FCP-X becoming free, and why they will never release a real Microsoft Office killer ( although i bet they already have developped it and keep it ready, just in case Microsoft says "sorry , no more Office for you " )

While iPod sales were up and Macs were at least levelling off (instead of dropping) in terms of sales I'd say that Apple was still nowhere near as high profile as they are today. The conversion of iPhone>Mac user seems to be dramatically higher than iPod>Mac user, at least imo as a Mac/Win/*nix/iP*** user for many years now.

I recall more watching a few 'unboxing' videos made from random users than any kind of Apple based fanfare. Ie, there wasn't much news from Apple aside from the updating info on their website and a press release that was quoted across the net.

Thats when jobs came back, ended the clone program, introduced the iMac, and yada yada. By 2003 Mac sales were on an upward trend, being propelled by OS X, iLife, and yes the iPod.

In case no one knows? Apple recently acquired Redmatica, I believe last Monday. Redmatica had some killer apps for Logic, including one geared for sound design with the Exs24. That being said, this is an indication Logic will see X. I just don't see the upgrade happening this year.

If it's not this year and Apple waits 4 years between making the upgrade then that's really crappy. Happy Logic 3 year and 1 month anniversary everybody. |

They still have 100 billion $ to spend. I vote for buying Pro Tools and let it look like Logic 7 *muahaha*
