Thread Starter | Omnisphere is OUT!
Why?
It's just too big . . . too soundtrackish . . . too well-rounded . . . too expensive. As far as space goes . . . I would rather have 10 other soft synths. Even Alchemy with every add-on I could find would take up less than 30gig. I'm going to pass on Omni and Stylus, but Trilian might be justifiable. Any thoughts? What else can replace all those bass instruments?

first of all although omnisphere does have a lot of soundtrack stuff it is not the only type of sounds it has, they are thousands of patches of other genres....second of all, taste is personal I know but alchemy doesn't sound anywhere as good as omnisphere imho. But maybe that is what you meant by too well-rounded?
and maybe you don't work with loops, but there is nothing that can do with loops what stylus can do.

If I were to stay away from samplers (which is cheating a bit):
1) Addictive Drums
2) Omnisphere
3) Pianoteq
I could produce a lot with that. And do.

My useage here for VSTi's would be RE/fx nexus as well as PIanoteq which is brilliant . And I do like toontracks stuff . With those 3 VSTis you can do a lot of stuff for sure . Nexus being very thourough with all the packs they offer .

...maybe i'll try a concept album like that... The "Audio Damage-D" album.
With that said:
Gladiator (kinda surprised but also glad no one else said that)
Stylus RMX
Dr. Device (if FX count)

If I really had to choose a third one, it would be M-Tron Pro. | I was just going to answer this again, but realized I had already done so
<trolling>No need for three VSTi's. That's for ******s</trolling>

rsp | But, in my few hours demoing Stylus I could not find anything visual. I could not see the loop at all. Was I missing something? I need my eyes when working with loops, not just my ears. I want to see the start points and markers and fades and . . .
If there is an edit page whereby I can clearly see the sound . . . I will bust our Mr. Mastercard now and declare RMX one of my THREE!
As far as Omnisphere . . . is there any secret way to delete unwanted stuff from that big bulk of sound juice?

Dr. Device (if FX count) | I go back and forth with this in everything I do . . .
A. A little of each.
B. All of one.
I guess I'm the same way with girls. :-).

Omnisphere
Alchemy
Battery
Ya I need 4, but with these 4 anyone could create pretty much any style of music.

It's interesting to see what slutz would keep if they only could keep three. I mean . . . limiting the amount of gear goes against slutness, right?

It can be liberating just to have a few well chosen instruments but in this world we have virtually unlimited choice. |
