Steinberg MR816 X vs Steinberg MR816 CSX

I don't really understand what the difference is.

Is it really worth and extra $300 for the extra features?

The only difference is you get a DSP channel strip plug-in available on all the channels. If that's worth $300 to you then there you go.

I have a tonne of channel strip plug-ins which cover my needs adequately so I didn't need it, and went for the straight 'X' version. YMMV.

Their channel strip is actually quite good (I have the same comp and EQ plugins in my $60k Yamaha live digital console), and can be used as a plugin in Cubase as well. It runs off the DSP in the 816, and the strips won't put any load on your cpu as well.
Congratulations 2010, and now 2012 World Champion SF Giants!!!

bear in mind you cant use the onboard DSP and use the Adat at the same time so if you intend to use it as a 16 I/O device then no point to the CSX
