Pro Tools recording distortion

Anyone ever have a problem with Pro Tools HD (6.9.2) where you get distotion for about 4 seconds when recording for the first time? Happens every time I record after starting PT for the first time. Tried changing drives, buffer settings, trashing prefs... wtf? Help!

Thanks!

No, just distortion. Once past the first recording, it's all good. In fact, we've been making a "pre-emptive recording" to prevent my irritation with this problem...
