Thread Starter | CAN I CHANGE SAMPLING RATE? PLEASE READ MY SPECIFIC CASE!!!
ok... here's the deal. I wanted to record an acoustic songe at a higher sampling rate than usual (96k). I made a mistake, having the project at 96k and the hardware (motu hd192) set to 192k. i know, i know... it's rediculous that i let that happen... anyway i recorded the song, tried to reopen it later and it played super slow. see this case isn't just a quick fix with sample rate conversion. the audio files all read 96k in their properties, but they need to be played out through a hardware unit set at 192k. does that make sense to everyone? i thinks it's crazy that the software lets it happen to begin with, but it was my fault. anyway, the problem is that i don't have a mixdown unit to mix it live to. I need to mix it in the box. the software that i'm using is sonar by the way. note: please don't suggest that i convert the sample rate. that simply converts the problem to a new sampling rate. still a problem once converted. is there a way to change the tags on these files? is there a way to change them from 96k to 192k without "converting" them? this is really messed up. thanks everyone |

Maybe you should just leave it as is. Mismatched. As long as it plays back fine, cant' you just mix and bounce?

You don't say what software you're using but some software (though apparently not my DAW) simply lets you save an existing file as a 'different' format -- w/o SR conversion. So, you have a file recorded at 192 but marked as 96 kHz, you set the SR files setting as 192 but don't allow a sample rate conversion. (Not sure, but either or both the old CoolEdit or some version of Sound Forge worked that way.)
