IK Multimedia - Classik Studio Reverb CSR Anyone heard it yet? Looks like they modelled it after the Lexicon. But does it really sound like it or went all the development into the GUI only? ![]()

Ok...I took the risk and bought it. There is a crossgrade if you own any IK product...so it wasn't too expensive. Sounds very nice. I played with the plates and they sound very Lexicon'ish.

I'm glad you liked it but I'm really hoping there's going to be a demo. Jam

Anyone know if you crossgrade to the Studio Bundle if it will include CSR? It seems like it since they advertise it on the same page. I wonder if it will also include the future ampeg plug.

theother, do you have any convolution reverbs you could compare this too? I know convolution is an entirely different beast, but I always loved the way lexicon verbs would settle into a track. I almost like it more than the convo stuff that's out now. How do you think this compares? j

theother, did you have a chance to play with the hall algorithms ? are they as thick as the 480l they're supposed to emulate ?

The samples I made with the SREV1 are as close as you can get to the real 480L. I couldn't hear any difference...maybe you can.... The sampling process of the SREV1 is what makes all the difference. I haven't found a software for computers yet that produces the same results. when I transfer samples taken with the SREV and load them into Wizoo it sounds pretty good. But when I make samples on the computer with Voxengo or other programs, the results are a joke! The CSR has a lot of the 480 vibe but it's not the same. From all the plugins I know (or even other hardware reverbs) it's definately the closest to the 480L. (not taking into account sampling reverbs). | |

So, are you saying that a convolution reverb would probably be a better purchase if you wanted a great verb? For the money, which is better, wizoo or Classik Verb? Wish they had a demo. j

convolution verbs won't give you those wonderful animated tails that the lexicon do so well. Convolution samples are like a static image, very good image but static... that's were modelled reverbs can fit in.

That's what I thought. I just wonder if the IK verb will provide that wonderful sound. Cause, I've never been able to achieve it with the convolution verbs. j

bump, two years later! I'm thinking of buying the CSR. I've tried the demo, and it sounds pretty good. I can get a crossgrade price of $270. Is there anything else in that range I should consider? Thanks Peter

That thread is a bit old. I say this because a lot of guys say it's the best algo verb in that thread but there's Breverb now and it sounds very good to me. Better from what I've heard. But don't take my word for it as i didn't listen to CSR much.. will do soon. But from what I've heard CSR does sound good. I just wasn't sure about some things. I hear CSR is dongle free now? Does this means it comes with a Serial #? Or challenge response. Because that could make the difference for me.

| I believe it works with challenge response now. It's a good reverb, but imo it doesn't beat Plate 140 from UAD. It's nice to have other reverbs though, like Room.

It is challenge/response now - no dongle required. I got mine for $89 from Guitar Center when they had a discount weekend a few weeks ago. Couldn't resist at that price and it does sound excellent.
