Can you play protools backwards

Transfer your tracks to a reel to reel machine, record the session, then stop the machine, take the reels off, flip them both upside down and put them back on the tape deck so that the tape is travelling the opposite way of what is was when you recorded. Open a Pro Tools session, create required number of tracks and record from the reel to reel. Now your session will play backwards. Don't forget to demagnetize your Trimmer Tool before you get started. Applying a little denatured alcohol around the Function keys with a cotton swab couldn't hurt, either.

do a quick mix ... import that into session or record to a new track ...

in audiosuite reverse (is it invert?) the track ... play your part that you want to be backwards along with this track .... then reverse that new track and you have a backwards track

that is as close to having a tape machine that i can think of right now ....

please post backwards track so we can test for satanic references, back masking, or brokebackwards mountain references .... uoy tiuq dluoc i hsiw i

No.

Processing every region with the reverse tool would be the only way.

You can do at least 2 tracks at once by using shuttle lock. Not sure if you can do more than that, as it's been a while since I've tried. Shuttle lock will play whichever tracks your insertion point is on.

On Mac:
CTRL+NumPad 5, then NumPadMinus to reverse direction (NumPadPlus to go forward again). It eats your cursor though, so you can't manipulate anything while doing this. You can also slow down or speed up the playback with the other number keys (1=very slow, 9=very fast)

I have a feeling this isn't what you want to do though.

Consolide each track and then reverse all. That way everything stays sync and you can mix backwards...

Track reversal may not cut it. Reverbs and delays and other gizz will be applied in reverse order. The only way I can think of is to bounce the track then reverse it all in audiosuite. Given, it's not very real-time though.

I tried flipping over the S-VHS cart but it didn't fit.
