Win XP Media Center Edition

Does anyone know how well XP Media Center plays with your regular DAW-type software? I'm very familiar with the tweaks one can perform to XP Home and Pro, but haven't heard as much about Media Center. Any and all feedback is much appreciated...

I would use XP Pro for your DAW and install media center on another bootable drive.

I have Media Center on a DVD server. It has over 2TB of storage for my DVD's and CD's. For archival of my LP's I use Sound Forge 8 through a Lynx Studio TwoB. So far they play together nicely. For additional storage of my DVD's I use LaCie 2TB storage units connected via Firewire800. I have 4 of them daisy chained for 10TB total storage. It's an Intel 875 mobo and 3.2ghz prescott cpu and 2GB RAM. Media Center is actually built on the XP Pro platform.

Regards,

My secondary DAW is media center. Everything seems to play along nicely. No difference between this machine and my XP pro machine regarding stability/compatibility.

Thanks guys, sounds good. I'm looking at getting a new Dell laptop, and the models I'm considering all come with Media Center standard, and I'd rather not pay the $140 XP Pro upgrade fee if possible...

As long as ypu don't expect to run PT's on it, as Digi does not support the media edition.

I'm running PT, live 5 etc. with media center with no probs. Not endorsing, just saying. As far as I can tell, media center is just an application that only runs when you launch it.
